Products & Sizing
How do I choose the right tent size?
Tent capacity ratings are based on sleeping pad width with minimal gear. For comfortable storage space or if you sleep large, size up by one. Solo backpackers often use a 1-person tent for weight savings, or a 2-person for comfort on longer trips.
How do sleeping bag temperature ratings work?
ISO-standard ratings test a standardized manikin. The Comfort rating is the lowest temperature an average woman sleeps comfortably. The Lower Limit is for an average man. The Extreme rating is a survival figure — not a comfort rating. We recommend choosing a bag rated at least 10°F below the coldest temperature you expect.
What does waterproof rating (mm HH) mean?
Hydrostatic Head (HH) measures how much water pressure a fabric can withstand. 1,500mm handles light rain. 3,000mm handles sustained rain. 10,000mm+ handles alpine storms and driving precipitation. Tent floors should be rated at least 3,000mm.
Do hiking boots run true to size?
Most of our boots run true to size. We recommend going up a half size if you plan to wear thick wool socks or hike long days, as feet swell over time. Check individual product pages for specific fit notes from our gear team.
Returns & Warranty
What if my gear breaks on the trail?
Contact us. Our Lifetime Craftsmanship Guarantee covers manufacturing defects — if it failed because it wasn't built right, we replace it. For accident damage, we offer repair services at cost and can often source replacement parts directly from the manufacturer.
Can I return a product I've used once?
Yes, within 60 days and in clean condition. We understand gear sometimes doesn't perform as expected in the field. Return it, tell us what went wrong, and we'll help you find something that works better for you.
