The TrailRunner Low is TerraHike's crossover hiking shoe — light enough for trail running, supportive enough for day hiking with a light pack, and versatile enough to go from trail to town. A non-waterproof mesh upper maximizes breathability and dries rapidly after water crossings — the right tradeoff for summer conditions where feet will get wet regardless.
The Vibram Megagrip compound outsole (same as the Summit GTX) grips wet rock and rooted trail reliably, while a rockplate embedded in the midsole protects against sharp underfoot objects on technical terrain. At under 2 lbs for a pair in size 9, it's roughly a pound lighter than the Summit GTX for comparable outsole performance.
